Frequently asked
Can I write with my finger?
Handwriting is Apple Pencil only. Your finger handles the paper itself — turning pages, moving sheets around. It keeps intact the sense that only a pen puts ink on paper.
Can I type instead?
No. Everything is handwritten — even index tab names are written with the Pencil, like the real thing. Your ink is quietly read in the background, searchable exactly as written.
Does my work sync across devices?
When iCloud is enabled for Papering, your binders, handwriting, photos, and PDFs sync across iPads signed in to the same iCloud account. You can check sync status in Papering's settings.
Can I make my own inserts?
Yes. Import your own PDF or image as an insert design, or import PDF pages into a binder. You can also choose from the inserts in the stationery drawer.
I want to delete my data.
Binders and sheets move to Trash first, where you can permanently delete them. Deleting the app alone may leave an iCloud copy, which you can manage separately in your iCloud settings. Manage Vault copies and exported backups separately, too.
How do I restore a purchase?
Sign in with the Apple Account you used to buy it, then choose Restore Purchases in the app settings. The Hardcover Plan and paid stationery products are one-time purchases. See the Terms of Use for refund requests.
